Last summer, I visited Espalmador with my parents and my relatives who live in Ibiza. Espalmador is a very small island located in front of Ibiza and at a walking distance to Formentera. You can actually walk from Espalmador to Formentera because the maxim water depth is 120 centimetres. It's a private island but you can go to any Spanish beach according to the
Ley de Costas.
It's only reachable by boat and has beautiful light blue water and
posidonea oceanica grounds where many different endemic species live. Its fine white sand beaches surround most of the island and lodge a mediterranean system of dunes. There is also medicinal a mud spring and therefore people spread the mud on their skin.
In the summertime dozens of boats go to the Espalmador bay to spend the day or overnight and return to Ibiza or Formentera. It's a very quiet place and you can relax. You can enjoy snorkeling, swimming in the crystalline water, playing beach tennis, with the beach ball or simply sunbathing on the warm sand.
On one hand I could say it's a small piece of paradise but there is an inconvinient: you can't go there unless you do it in a private boat. On the other hand this could be seen as an advantage: there are few people.
Wow Nico!
