Writing 5: A description of a place. Nicolás Muñoz

Last summer, I visited Espalmador with my parents and my relatives who live in Ibiza. Espalmador is a very small island located in front of Ibiza and at a walking distance to Formentera. You can actually walk from Espalmador to Formentera because the maxim water depth is 120 centimetres. It's a private island but you can go to any Spanish beach according to the Ley de Costas.

It's only reachable by boat and has beautiful light blue water and posidonea oceanica grounds where many different endemic species live. Its fine white sand beaches surround most of the island and lodge a mediterranean system of dunes. There is also medicinal a mud spring and therefore people spread the mud on their skin.
In the summertime dozens of boats go to the Espalmador bay to spend the day or overnight and return to Ibiza or Formentera. It's a very quiet place and you can relax. You can enjoy snorkeling, swimming in the crystalline water, playing beach tennis, with the beach ball or simply sunbathing on the warm sand.

On one hand I could say it's a small piece of paradise but there is an inconvinient: you can't go there unless you do it in a private boat. On the other hand this could be seen as an advantage: there are few people.

More or less nine years ago, something happened that I'll remember for the rest my life. I was ten years old more or less and I was walking on the street. Suddenly I saw something that caught my attention.
A man was trying to steal a woman's handbag. The thief was pulling the handbag and the woman was pulling too. I looked at them without doing anything, and when I had walked
about ten steps away I turned back and I saw the thief running with the handbag and the woman crying on the floor. I turned around and I continued walking as if nothing had happened.

Many years later, I remembered that, and I felt like a "bad" person for not helping that woman. On the one hand maybe, if I had saved her, she would have invited me to have some sex, I don't know... It's something that follows me every day and hurts me. On the other hand, I could be a hero saving a woman and I'll live without this sensation on my inside that bleeds and consumes me every day, little by little...
So, being a hero or being a coward is in your own hands, and the way that your life follows is only commanded by you.

The Real Mission Of Apollo 11 (by Cristofer)

Hi Linis and hi to everybody!
I found the videos I showed you in class last day and that you wanted me to post in the blog.
Take a look at the videos and think about them =). For people who want to know the truth you may think that is awesome and maybe some of you may think that this is a joke or a lie.
I really like to know your opinion about them and would like you to write a comment in this blog.
I think that was the real mission of Apollo 11 and they really found it and they really saw what they said.

Working from home (by Cristofer Sánchez)

Working from home should be something comfortable, no transport is requiered, and maybe easy and less streesful but there are some different points of view about working from home.

One of the most important advantages of working from home is the transport, you don't need to take your car, bus or something else to go to the place you work, only your legs and shoes to walk to the place you have your computer. Another advantage is that you don't have to work with people around you and the boss checking constantly your work. If you work from home you won't have problems with your workmates, you will be able to sit on your and work.

However there also some dissadvantages...
One of the most important would be deadlines for sending your work.
If you work using Internet this can be your worst oponent because if you have a deadline for your work and the internet fails in the date you need to send the work, you problably will feel desesperate.
AoOther disadvantage is that you could lose your data in the computer and sometimes if you have been working hard and you have lost everuthing you could feel like taking a hammer and "give some holidays to your computer") . Sometimes e-mails are lost in cyberspace and then the e-mail won't arrive, or arrive late to its destination... That may probably would be the end of your job, and you can be fired...
In my opinion working from home should be comfortable, relaxed, and without cost for transport. However you can lose your data, or probably your internet will fail or you can lose the e-mails you have just send or something like that. Sometimes working from home would be a solution for people who don't wan't problems with their workmates or for people who can't realate whith other people in their place of work.
Thats just another way or alternative type of working and for taking your job in a more comfortable way.

Teaching a foreign language to very young children (Lina Quiroga)

It has been proved that children and young people in general have more facilities to learn more than one language than adults.

I agree with this theory, because a young mind has less information and experience than an old mind.

The idea of this essay is focused on children and their capacity of learning new things like languages.

I think that a person who has learnt different languages in their childhood is a very lucky perosn, because he or she would have more advantages in his life like for example more opportunities in his work and social life in general.

In my opinion there aren't any disadvantages. I can only see advantages because children usually are very extrovert and they always want to receive as much information as possible. They are always asking and learning, so teaching at this time is very appropiate.

However, if you want to analyse it deeper, we can find a few disadvantages like for example that a little kid would have some problems when he wants to express himself . He won't have the same vocabulary in all the languages he has learned. Furthermore he won't try to express himself better because he would be able to use other languages.

But those things are negligible because the most important thing is that this person will have more tools to deal with in a wider world.

Ultimately, I think that it's so much better to learn a few languages early in childhoood. Thus you can discover different types of worlds and broaden your mind.

Advantages and disadvantages of leaving home at 18

When teenagers are 18,some of them feel a bit rebellious and also a bit conceited and arrogant.So,for this reason, many people want to leave home.This important decision has some advantages and also some disadvantages...

On the one hand,young people leave home because they need to enjoy their freedom,and don't want to be controlled by their parents.They want to start living on their own and learn to be independent,responsible and to make decisions for themselves.

On the other hand, although, setbacks can make young people mature, some teenagers are still very young and unexperienced, and they don't usually know what they want to be in the future. They need to experience things.Today's society is very complicated and young people can be easily cheated.They sometimes find out that getting things is much more difficult than they thought. Some teenagers can feel disappointed, lost and confused.

To sum up,I personally think that 18 is a good age to leave home.When I finish Batxillerat,I want to leave home,because now I am very dependent on my parents and I think I could learn lots of new things being more independent and living on my own ...

Advantages and disadvantages of a three-day weekend (by Aina Mir)

At first I thought that the idea of a three-day weekend doesn’t have any disadvantages, but then when you start to think about it you can find some problems.

In my opinion a three-day weekends would be a very nice thing. For me, the most important thing about three free days is that you can disconect from everything more easily, because with the normal weekend you can’t disconect and you can’t totaly enjoy it.

Another advantage of a three-day weekend is that you could travel more frequently and you could know more about other cities and other places.

In addition, I think that if we have three-day weekend we would start the week with more motivation and our performance would be better.

On the other hand, I think that a three-day weekend is a good thing only for responsible people, because they know where the limits are and they could work or study hard the other four days. Nevertheless, irresponsible people would probably find difficult to concentrate at work.

Furthermore if we had a three-day weekend I think we would become more lazy and we wouldn’t want to work.

Then, with a three-day weekends you will have more free time to spend money and to save money would be a harder task.

In my opinion three day weekends would be a very good idea but only for responsible people. But I am not sure about it because I think that humans are very unconformist and if we have three day weekends then we would want four days, and then five because we are never satisfied with the things we have.
